This prestigious exhibition is now on at the Mall Galleries near Admiralty Arch in London. The show was opened by HRH Princess Michael of Kent, the patron of the society.
I was very prvileged to receive an award for the 'Most Original Oil Painting' with my painting 'Harbour Market at Elmina II'. The award was presented by Princes Michael who was very complimentary about the painting and my use of colour. I was also very pleased to see one of the three paintings I had on display (New York II - VAnderbilt Ave), sold on the first day.
In this picture, along with Princess Michael is Barbara Penketh Simpson, the president of the Society.
The exhbition runs from Thursday 1st to Saturday 10th July 2010

I am really pleased that 5 of my paintings have been selected for the Society of Women Artists 149th annual open exhbition in July.
Did you know, a mere 153 years ago, it was considered too shocking for a woman artist to display her work in London? When a few rebellious women formed their own society in 1857, there was no shortage of women artists, but some changed their name to protect their families.
The Society of Women Artists (SWA) is that same Society. Vibrant as ever, far from clinging to the modern world by their fintertips, they are proud of their history and bursting with talented artists vying to show their work at this the 149th annual exhibition.
I am thrilled to be showing in a London show with such a unique history.
The show's patron, HRH Princess Michael of Kent will open this year's exhibition which takes place at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London SW1 from 1 - 10 July 2010

2010 has been a bit of a slow start for me where my painting is concerned. I have managed to complete one though. 'Waiting for the catch' was unveiled this week in time for submission (the paint was barely dry) to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Judging takes place over the next few weeks and I remain optimistic and hopeful.
I the meantime my participation in the Northampton Town and County annual exhibition has been recognised with an associate membership to the society. I am thrilled to bits. Read more about the society here www.northantsart.co.uk/

November 2009
Well, it's been a busy month! I submitted four more paintings to the Fellowship of Amateur and Profressional Artists (FPAA) 10th anniversary exhibition and was very proud to find all four had been accepted.
Two of the paintings received awards. The Oyster Catchers at Aberdeen Beach received the award for best oil painting and New York Series II - Vanderbilt Avenue received a sponsored prize.
Here is a picture of the Mayor of Wellingborough and the very proud artist. The exhibition is on at the Wellingborough Museum, Castle Way, Northampton from 7th - 14th November.

I was recently invited to submit 4 paintings to the rather prestigious Northampton Town and County Arts Society's annual exhbition and was pleased to hear one painting had been chosen to be hung at the show. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call informing me my painting - New York Series 1 had been selected as the President's prize for the best oil painting from a non-member.
Here I am proud as a peacock in front of the winning picture. The standard of work is very high indeed and the prize a very humbling recognition of my work.
The exhibition is still on at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, Guildhall Road and ends on Sunday 13th December.

The Open Studios exhibition held at The Elnaugh Gallery in Northampton (part of PhotoArtistry Ltd) was very successful indeed. 11 artists displayed their work at our open gallery for 3 weeks from 5th - 20th September 2009. My own work was displayed in anadjacent room and following on from a visit by Brian Mutton of the Northampton Town and County Art Society, I was invited to take part in their 96th annual exhbition at the Northampton Museum.
Fellow open studios exhibitor Stella Benfold also provided me with a list of shows in the county that I might be interested in and I successfully applied and was accepted into the Fellowshipship of Professional and Amateur Artists 10th anniversary exhibition which opened in Wellingborough on 7th November.
I have more news on both exhibitions.

May 2009
I am really pleased to have received an honourable mention in the Art Interview 16th Online Art Competition which ran from January 1st to March 31st 2009. May 2008
The second painting in my New York series is now ready and has been posted in the gallery. The oil on canvas painting is 85cm x 85cm (33.5" x 33.5") and is available framed. I really enjoyed this one and for a couple of weeks was able to lose myself in New York whilst portraying the shapes, colours and motion of what in my opinion is one of the most beautiful cities I have had the pleasure of visiting.

April 2008
The latest addition to the gallery is the first in a series of 4 paintings inspired by my recent visit to New York. Even though I followed through on the current theme 'People At Work', this is the first time the subject matter has come from outside Africa. I loved working on this one using colours and shapes to portray one of New York's iconic figures.
