Elizabeth May is a contemporary abstract artist whose work involves lots of light reflections. Her images are mounted onto thick acrylic perspex or onto aliminium.
One of the greatest privileges in my life was to study at Achimota School - arguably the finest school in Ghana. I graduated in 1977, the year the school celebrated her 50th anniversary so am doubly privileged to be a member of the 'Jubilee Year Group - Class of '77). I returned to complete my 6th form finally leaving in 1979. My mother was the school doctor for a couple of years and so I lived in the school compound and was able to love and appreciate the beauty of the grounds.
Achimota School has fallen into a state of disrepair. I saw this for myself during a recent visit to Ghana (Christmas 2007). The Achimota School Fund has been set up to raise funds towards the schools regeneration to continue to enhance her long-standing tradition of excellence and becoming yet again a beacon of hope in the African educational landscape.
10% of the proceeds of the sale of each painting is committed to the school fund.
